Spain:Roman ruins

As we walked the camino, we were often crossing Roman bridges and seeing architecture of antiquity. One day, we came upon a mosaic floor. It was from 3AD or 4AD!! It was the floor of a rather large Roman built piazza type place. There was a significant section of the mosaic still in tact! It had birds and bears and vessels along with this traditional twisting rope look. I stood for a long time as I considered the time it took to design the floor, lay it out, find the pieces, and to place each one. And, it was created over 2000 years ago!!! Humanity has always been drawn to creative beauty.

I wonder what will be considered beautiful from our era and I wonder what will endure time.
